Well, that was unexpected. According to multiple news sources (Automotive News and BBC) Volkswagen board Chairman Ferdinand Piech. He just tried to oust his hand picked successor, CEO Martin Winterkorn, but he found himself alone when the board said nein. Piech has been kingmaker at VW for years, but, apparently, that reign is over.
